Revamped Living Room, Dinning Room and Family Room....

Take a look at 3 rooms that I have decorated and revitalized for my client.  The rooms had great bones and great furniture pieces, which my clients wanted to keep.  I repositioned some pieces, and improved the flow of the rooms as well as purchased the missing accessories and furniture accents that the space needed.

Drapery is set to be installed next week, but I couldn't wait to post these before and after pictures!
Hope you enjoy them!!

I installed these beautiful large mirrors and console tables to flank the fireplace.  I also repositioned the 2 chairs and the sofa which made the space feel much larger and sophisticated.  We added great Ralph Lauren Lamps on the console which added more drama in the space.

We installed a damask wall paper, changed the chairs because the scale of the other ones were not right.  We changed the light fixture to a modern transitional piece from ELTE which works great in the space.

I repositioned the TV on the larger wall and created a desk area under the window.  The beautiful print was purchased at ATRI MISTERI in Woodbridge, (great boutique!, if you haven't gone, you should!)

Decorating with Peonies from the Garden...

My favorite flower is the Peony, I love the size of the blooms, the soft petals and the sweet smell.  This past week my peonies took a beating with all the wind and rain, and 99% of the blooms were on the grass & driveway as a result.  I decided to cut some and use them to decorate my hallway....  If you have Peonies that are in full bloom and are toppled over, cut them down and enjoy from the inside.

Just wish they would stay longer than a week.....

Cabana Facelift

This year we needed to change our pool liner.  The pool is about 10 years old and the white liner desperately needed to be replaced.  We replaced it with a blue granite vinyl liner with no boarder.  It was a huge transformation from the white to this Mediterranean blue, we are thrilled with the new colour!

But, who would have known that changing the liner would have me going through my paint catalogues in the middle of the night!  I needed to freshen up the cabana with something neutral against the Mediterranean Blue of the pool.  I thought the cedar against the blue complimented each other but I wanted it to look tranquil so I decided on Benjamin Moore's Edgecomb gray HC-173 and HC -168 Chelsea gray.

We are thrilled with the results and how easily we updated the look of our backyard with just a little paint!  Plus it gives us 1 more summer to hold off on building the pool house!!   hope your inspired to give YOUR HAVEN a little facelift!

enjoy!

Your Haven NY ..

This past weekend my friends and I headed to NY for some Retail Therapy.... together we left 6 husbands and 17 kids.  We shopped in style and ventured through NY with a stretched white limo.  Our philosophy, it was less expensive than calling 2 cabs (which if you've ever been to NY getting a hold of 2 cabs at the same time is a challenge in itself!).

While shopping at Saks Fifth Avenue, I couldn't resist but to take some pictures of the following home displays.  The set up for Mackenzie-Childs has me thinking about all the wonderful mad hatter displays I had seen in NY at Bloomingdales & Saks Fifth Avenue about 4 years ago. It was all the rage when Alice in Wonderland premiered.  The amazing, whimsical and artisan creations has me rethinking my daughter Lauren's Room...

At the escalator they had Missoni set up with these great iconic pieces.  The cushions are incredible!

My visit to Bowring!

I was out shopping this week and went in to Bowring, haven't been in the store in quite some time.
I thought I would include some pictures of some great pieces I had found throughout the store.

This was a great console table! Lamps are fabulous as well!!

This is a great sofa, the shape and assortment of fabrics

These are great planters, love the colour!

I loved this table, I think it would be perfect as a sofa console.

Made in........ WHAT!!!!!!!!

Last week I was at Chapters/Indigo and they had put a fabulous collection of Portuguese cooking together, complete with Portuguese INSPIRED dinnerware.   I will say that I was so disappointed when the vignette I was looking at had the story going on, but when I flipped over the Dinnerware.... MADE IN CHINA!!!! what were they thinking!!!!

When I visited Portugal about 3 years ago for The Bay; at the time I was buying Stemware & Flatware for the company, Myself and the Dinnerware buyer visited many ceramic, glassware and hand painted factories, I am 100% confident that they would have LOVED to supply Chapters/indigo with MADE IN PORTUGAL dinnerware and serve ware to complete the look and the story that chapters was trying to create.

Everyone is so busy these days, so taking the time to shop in a  retail environment when so many of us are now shopping on line, really means that the retailer really needs to step up their game and take the vision right down to all the elements needed to make the shoppers inspired to recreate the look & feel...

Although, I still love Chapters/Indigo but this vignette was a complete disappointment!!!
Now...., I may be a little biased, being Portuguese and all ;)    but I really think they could have done such a wonderful job with this....  maybe next time!

here are some pics anyway!  enjoy...
